Your bike tour
Day 1:
Individual arrival to Spittal an der Drau and handover of the detailed documents at the hotel. Overnight stay in Spittal an der Drau.
Day 2:
Spittal – Weissensee – Millstätter See, approx. 65 km
Your tour begins with a bus ride to the eastern shore of the beautiful, fjord-like Weissensee, which lies at an altitude of 930 meters above sea level. You cross the lake with the liner and then switch to bicycles. From the west bank you cycle downhill to the Drau cycle path and via Spittal/Drau to the popular bathing lake Millstätter See. Overnight stay at Lake Millstätter See
Day 3:
Millstätter See – Feldsee – Afritzer See – Ossiacher See approx. 60 km
You cycle along the beautiful Millstätter See to Radenthein, where a visit to the Garnet Gemstone Adventure World is recommended. You then pass the two small bathing lakes Feldsee and Afritzer See, which are ideal for a leisurely rest before you reach Ossiacher See. Overnight stay at Lake Ossiach
Day 4:
Ossiacher See – Wörthersee – Krumpendorf / Klagenfurt, approx. 45 km
Today is dedicated to Lake Ossiach and Lake Wörthersee and, depending on your interest and fitness level, we recommend additional kilometers of cycling along the lake cycle paths. On Lake Ossiach, for example, the Ossiach Abbey, the Steinhaus Domenig and the Bleistätter Moor nature reserve are worth seeing. We continue to the glamorous Wörthersee, where you can take a break in a beach cafe in the famous Velden and stroll between the casino and Velden Castle. Overnight stay in Krumpendorf or Klagenfurt
Day 5:
Wörthersee / Klagenfurt – Ferlach – Klopeiner See, approx. 50 km
You can start this day with a tour of the state capital Klagenfurt and its landmark, the Lindwurm. You continue cycling across the floodplain area towards the Drau and can soon visit the historic cannon town of Ferlach. We continue on the beautiful Drau cycle path through the natural Rosental to Lake Klopein, the warmest swimming lake in Europe. Overnight stay at Lake Klopein
Day 6:
Klopeiner See – Villach, approx. 80 km
On this day and the next you will cycle back along the Drau cycle path largely on dam paths. Enjoy the peace and nature, the Drau offers wonderful insights into the flora and fauna of this river landscape. If the route is too long for you, you can shorten it by train via Klagenfurt and e.g. B. cycle back on the Wörthersee south bank cycle path via Maria Wörth. When you arrive in Villach, you should enjoy the atmosphere of the Mediterranean-inspired main square. Overnight stay in Villach
Day 7:
Villach – Spittal an der Drau / Millstätter See approx. 40 km
On the last day of cycling, you return along the Drau cycle path via Paternion to your departure point in Spittal/Drau. Alternatively, you can complete this stage by train and take a detour to the small, bright turquoise-green Faaker See, take a swim break or walk around it. Overnight stay in Spittal an der Drau or at Lake Millstätter See
Day 8:
Individual departure or extra nights.
General information
The bike tours do not present any technical difficulties; there are only a few slopes! However, some physical fitness and the will to persevere are a prerequisite. The right cycling equipment such as closed sneakers, backpack, sun and rain protection, functional clothing, jacket and sweater are also the basis of every bike tour. The routes are easy to navigate with trekking bikes. They mostly lead on asphalted cycle paths, with a few routes also on gravel roads and forest paths. The kilometer information may vary slightly depending on the location of the hotels and the route chosen.
