On the trail of the World Heritage!
The Salzkammerweg is a beautiful and scenically diverse circular route around the Hoher Sarstein, east of Lake Hallstatt. You hike through alpine pastures, encounter waterfalls and viewpoints, with some opportunities to stop for refreshments along the way. This cross-regional circular hiking trail between Upper Austria and Styria offers plenty of variety. Starting in the World Heritage region along Lake Hallstatt, the "Path through the Wilderness" follows, which also touches on the Koppenbrüller Cave. On the subsequent section of the "Historic Salt Trail," you'll learn a great deal about the salt that gave this region its name. The final hiking trail, the "Roman Trail," provides insight into life in Roman times. Embark on an adventurous hiking trip in the Inner Salzkammergut.
