Coin Museum Hall

Birthplace of the Thaler and the Dollar
Coin Museum Hall
Coin Museum Hall

Description

The Hall Coin Museum fascinates its visitors with numerous details about coin minting and the powerful machines involved. The museum's centerpiece is a replica of the first coin minting machine, considered a technological sensation in the Middle Ages, which minted around 4,000 coins daily. Today, the colossal eight-meter-long roller minting machine stands in the very same spot where the machines were found in the 16th century. Using modern audio guides, Mint Master Franz leads visitors through the museum, recounting the origins of the dollar, the secrets of important coins, and powerful coin lords.

The audio guides are available in seven languages, as well as a special, exciting version for children. The creation and dissemination of the Thaler film is now being shown as a documentary at the Hall Mint Museum.
