Description
Forchtenstein Castle is one of the outstanding cultural monuments in Burgenland, which houses a large number of exquisite exhibits in an incomparable original ambience. Where the Esterházys' weapons and armaments are still stored today, you can use the castle ticket to explore the mighty building and bulwark. Here Prince Paul I, the important founding father of the Princely House, laid the foundation stone for the myth of his family. To this day, one of the largest preserved collections of Baroque family portraits can be found in the exhibition. Baroque silver furniture, clocks, vending machines, jewelery and precious stone goblets give an insight into the highlights of the Esterházy treasury.
An audio guide is available for the exhibition area for an individual tour.
During a guided tour, you will also discover impressive insights into the castle kitchen, one of the largest private arsenal holdings in Europe and the impressive fountain.
TIP: The Esterhazy winery - Pannonian variety in the glass!
Esterhazy has been growing wine in Burgenland for more than 250 years. The diverse palette ranges from light classic wines to unique local wines and large sparkling wines to the flagship Tesoro.
