Hiking in the Salzkammergut

Hiking in the Salzkammergut does not necessarily mean having to climb mountains. There is another way. Enjoy the picturesque Salzkammergut on foot. The hiking tour takes you from the Altausseersee via the Hallstättersee to the Gosau lakes with magnificent views of the imposing Dachstein. In addition to the hikes, there is time to explore the individual places with their sights. Nature and culture are in harmony with each other and offer the ideal conditions for an adventurous hike.

Day 1:
Individual arrival in Bad Aussee. In Bad Aussee you will receive your travel documents, a welcome drink and a souvenir from the Salzkammergut. Overnight stay in Bad Aussee

Day 2:
Bad Aussee - circumnavigation of Lake Altaussee - Bad Aussee approx.: 13.5 km, 4 hours, difference in altitude ascent/descent: 149 m / 93 m. Start of the tour in Bad Aussee - you hike along the Altausseer Traun until you reach the Lake Altaussee and circle it. Lake Altaussee is considered one of the most romantic mountain lakes in the Salzkammergut and a popular film location (most recently in "The Monuments Men" and in "James Bond: Spectre"). The bus takes you back to Bad Aussee. Overnight stay in Bad Aussee.
 
Day 3:
Bad Aussee - Obertraun - by bus to Gosau approx.: 14 km, 4 hours, difference in altitude ascent/descent: 178 m / 319 m. Today you hike through the wild and romantic Koppental along the Traun to Obertraun. A visit to the Koppenbrüller Cave is recommended on the way. Then take the bus to Gosau. Overnight stay in Gosau
 
Day 4:
Hike to the back of the Gosausee approx.: 12.5 km, 4.5 hours, difference in altitude ascent/descent: 326 m / 336 m. Bus ride from Gosau Mittertal to the Gosausee. This is where the hike begins at the Vorderer Gosausee via the Holzmeisteralm to the Hinterer Gosausee - always with the view of the imposing Gosaukamm and the Dachstein mountains. At the rear Seealm you have earned a break before returning to the starting point. Return to Gosau Mittertal by bus. Overnight stay in Gosau.

Day 5:
Hike to the Löckernmoos high moor approx.: 15 km, 5-6 hours, difference in altitude ascent/descent: 764 m / 773 m. The hike starts on the panorama trail to Gosau Hintertal. There you cross the road and hike up to the Löckernmoosberg mountain. At 1400m there is the nature reserve and the natural power place Löckernmoos with a small lake and a special flora and fauna. Descend to Gosau Mittertal and along the Gosaubach it goes back to the accommodation. Overnight stay in Gosau

Day 6:
Bad Goisern - Ostuferwanderweg - Hallstatt - Bad Goisern approx.: 8 km, 2 hours, difference in altitude ascent/descent: 34 m / 26 m. From Gosau, take the bus to Bad Goisern Au. Here you hike along the east bank hiking trail along Lake Hallstatt to Hallstatt train station. Take the ferry to Hallstatt Markt. Explore this historic place on the trail of salt.

Day 7:
Bad Goisern - Bad Ischl - Bad Goisern approx.: 11 km, 3 hours, difference in altitude ascent/descent: 137 / 157 m. Today's hike takes you along the brine path from Bad Goisern to Bad Ischl. You walk through the small town of Lauffen with the pilgrimage church. Here they prayed for protection from the wild waters of the Traun. Explore the town of Bad Ischl before taking the bus back to Bad Goisern. Overnight stay in Bad Goisern

Day 8:
Individual departure or extra nights.

The hikes do not have any technical difficulties and are also suitable for beginners, provided they are in good physical condition. Your hiking equipment should include: sturdy shoes, backpack, sun and rain protection, functional clothing.
