Tour Description
Day 1:

Individual arrival in Strobl
At the hotel you will receive your travel documents. Overnight stay in Strobl on Lake Wolfgang.
Day 2:
Strobl – St. Wolfgang – Bad Ischl – Strobl ~34 km, elevation gain/descent: 348/348 m
For the first few kilometers you can enjoy cycling along the old Ischlerbahn railway line. On the southern bank of Lake Wolfgangsee, near the Blinklingmoos nature reserve, you go to the ferry to Abersee to get to the other side of the lake. A visit to St. Wolfgang on the northern bank is worthwhile in several ways. The sights are close together, such as the pilgrimage church dedicated to St. Wolfgang from Regensburg. It houses art historical treasures. Just opposite is the “Weisses Rössl” hotel, which even had a musical theater dedicated to it in the 1930s. You cycle to the former imperial city of Bad Ischl via Pfandl, where salt was boiled as early as the 12th century. We return along the small river Ischl to Strobl on Lake Wolfgangsee. Overnight stay in Strobl.
Day 3:
Strobl – St. Gilgen – Mondsee ~29 km, elevation gain/descent: 287/344 m
The Mozart town of St. Gilgen is reached along the south bank cycle path. The pretty town nestles on the bank below the street. You can take a leisurely stroll past villas and the birthplace of Mozart's mother. The cycle path now leads past the picturesque Krottensee and over the Scharflinger Höhe you reach the crescent-shaped Mondsee. Don't miss taking a stroll along the beach promenade. From here you can also marvel at Mondsee's most striking mountain, the Drachenwand, which impresses with its flawless wall alignment of 400 vertical meters. Overnight stay at Mondsee.
Day 4:
Mondsee – Irrsee – Mondsee ~24 km, elevation gain/descent: 251/251 m
In Mondsee there is a large basilica with a rich art treasure that is worth visiting. The Irrsee, located slightly to the north, also belongs to the Mondseerland. It is surrounded by a belt of reeds, which has become a refuge for many bird species. The Irrsee, which is a protected area, and the moors surrounding it also offer a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. By the way, it is the warmest lake in the Salzkammergut - a welcome break during your bike tour can be a jump into the lake. There are always places to swim that invite you to linger. Overnight stay at Mondsee.
Day 5:
Mondsee – Unterach – Seefeld ~26 km, elevation gain/descent: 295/316 m
Today's stage takes you along the north bank of Mondsee via Au am Mondsee to Unterach am Attersee. There are only four kilometers between Mondsee and Attersee, the southern part of which resembles a real mountain lake. The rock walls of the Höllengebirge literally grow into the sky. The summer freshness of Lake Attersee has captivated artists for over 100 years. Gustav Klimt painted the small town of Weißenbach through his telescope and the composer Gustav Mahler processed his impressions by the lake in a small composing house in Steinbach, which can still be visited today. Let yourself be captivated by Austria's largest inland lake. You will travel to Seefeld to spend the night. Overnight stay in Seefeld.
Day 6:
Seefeld – Bad Ischl – Bad Goisern ~34 km, elevation gain/descent: 509/489 m
As you leave the Attersee area you reach the Inner Salzkammergut. Before that, you will experience a scenic treat, namely a bike tour through the Weißenbachtal. The cycle path leads from Weißenbach am Attersee over long stretches through wooded areas and always close to the mountain river, which has largely retained its original bed. Follow the Salzkammergut cycle path to Bad Ischl. Ischl became a vacation home of European standing from the middle of the 19th century when Emperor Franz Joseph began spending his holidays in his Ischl summer residence. Take advantage of the opportunity to take a break here, for example by visiting the famous Café Zauner. You then continue the bike tour via the pilgrimage site of Lauffen to Bad Goisern. Overnight stay in Bad Goisern.
Day 7:
Bad Goisern – Obertraun – Hallstatt – Bad Goisern ~30 km, elevation gain/descent: 575/575 m
On the way to Lake Hallstatt you follow the Traun, the refreshing lifeline of the Salzkammergut, which rises in the Dead Mountains in Styria. The following section on the eastern shore of the lake, which is reminiscent of a Norwegian fjord, is unobstructed, the view of the Dachstein Mountains including the glacier is fantastic and the route is spectacular. The side of the Sarstein falls almost vertically into the lake and the jetty floating above the water gives the impression of sailing above the water. In Obertraun you have the opportunity to visit the Dachstein ice or mammoth caves. We continue to Hallstatt. The almost perfect ensemble of narrow streets, historic houses, lake panorama and the cultural heritage from the Hallstatt period make this place world famous. Follow the western bank of the lake and return to Bad Goisern for overnight stay. Overnight stay in Bad Goisern.
Day 8:
Individual departure or extra nights.

General information

The bike tours do not present any technical difficulties; there are only a few climbs! However, some physical fitness and the will for endurance are a prerequisite, as well as cycling equipment such as closed sneakers, backpack, sun and rain protection, functional clothing, jacket and sweater, etc. The routes are easily navigable with trekking bikes - they mostly lead on asphalted cycle paths, with a few routes also on gravel roads and forest paths. If you ever want to spend a quieter day, you can of course cover part of the route by public transport such as train or boat.
