The hotel is your comfortable base camp for exciting excursions through the Große Walsertal. 230km of marked hiking trails, well maintained and signposted according to the Vorarlberg hiking trail concept, varied high-altitude trails, 46 Alps, mostly with rest stops, climbing opportunities and themed trails leave nothing to be desired. The natural and mountain landscape of the Great Walser Valley also offers you the perfect backdrop for a mountain bike or e-bike excursion. From leisurely pleasure routes to demanding tours, everything is included. With untouched landscapes, hidden gorges, torrents and dreamlike alpine meadows, you will find your way back to nature and the essentials in the Great Walser Valley.

Security, down-to-earthness, simplicity. "Das Schäfer" gives every guest "room" to arrive. The appealing lobby area with reception and fireplace lounge encourages you to sit down, enjoy and immerse yourself in the security of a world away from any stress. The stylish restaurant with gourmet-suspicious kitchen creations provides culinary delights. You can also enjoy it in the Walserstube, on the sun terrace or with a fine glass of wine at the Walserbar.

Payable on site: Dog on request (only allowed in the suites): EUR 20,- per night. Local tax: EUR 2.60 per person/night.

Rooms

The 38 rooms and suites are equipped with solid wood furniture, oversized beds (2.10 meters), a bathroom with bath or shower/toilet, hair dryer, telephone, radio, flat screen TV, safe, minibar, WiFi and balcony as well as a wellness bag with a bathrobe to borrow and slippers. Simple naturalness with limed oak floorboards, local silver fir wood, real, warm wool and natural colors convey a feeling of security and a feel-good atmosphere. The unique view of the expanse of the valley and the 7 Walser mountain peaks liberates and opens mind and heart.

Meals

"Das Schäfer" superior half-board: regional gourmet breakfast buffet with vital smoothies, fragrant bread, homemade jams, honey from the honeycomb, real Walserstolz mountain cheese and late riser breakfast (on advance order) until 11.30 a.m. at the bar, in the afternoon from 2pm-4pm "Walser snack" (also on the day of arrival) with hearty snack, fresh salad and oven-fresh strudel, in the evening 6-course gourmet menu - Austrian, regional, fresh, light & vital - including Vorarlberg cheese specialties at the end. Vegetarian alternatives are offered for all meals (no vegan cuisine!).
When preparing the dishes, mainly sustainably produced food from the region and herbs from our own parish garden are used.

Activities

Weekly outdoor program according to the notice at the reception with units of movement (partial contribution towards expenses).

The all-round package for well-being awaits you in the hotel's own sauna and bathing area BergSpa on 1,600m² and over 2 floors with indoor and outdoor swimming pools with jacuzzi bench, Finnish sauna, hay flower sauna, herbal steam bath, mediation and exercise room with selected fitness equipment, Bergspa bistro with summit-seeking terrace with a wonderful mountain view and vitality bar as well as diverse, cozy retreat areas with sheep wool blankets and outdoor lounge area in the summer months.
For a fee: special rituals and massages with local oils and herbs, wellness and beauty treatments, mountain spa suite for couple treatments.
