Accommodation: Comfortable rooms with shower/toilet, TV, and some with internet/Wi-Fi in 3-star hotels or guesthouses, as well as overnight stays in mountain huts in shared rooms. Due to their location, not all huts offer running water, hot water, or showers. Public parking is available on site (for a fee). Payable locally: Tourist tax.

"World Heritage Natural and Cultural Region": Since 1997, the 2,995-meter-high Dachstein has proudly held this distinction, as the impressive mountain landscape, along with the town of Hallstatt and the Dachstein Salzkammergut region, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site a decade ago.

General Information
During the tour around the Dachstein, you will be mostly in high alpine terrain. Appropriate mountain equipment and stamina are therefore essential. Necessary equipment includes: hiking boots, functional clothing, a backpack, water and food, rain and sun protection, warm clothing – even in midsummer, sudden temperature drops are possible, a hat, warm gloves, a first-aid kit, a mobile phone, and possibly hiking poles, etc. Your route will be recorded by your entry in each hut logbook in the Dachstein Mountains. The trails are well-marked, but markings may be obscured by remaining snow. Therefore, maps and the Dachstein hiking guide are essential. Guided tours with an experienced hiking guide are available upon request!
